1. What Is the Deutsch DT Series?

Deutsch DT is an automotive-grade sealed connector system developed by Deutsch, now part of TE Connectivity. It is widely used in off-road equipment, commercial vehicles, motorsport, and marine systems that require environmental sealing and vibration resistance.

3. Naming Convention

Deutsch DT part numbers are structured:

4. Contact Crimping

Deutsch DT uses crimp contacts that are inserted into the housing. Correct crimping is essential:

The wedge lock is the safety feature: it physically blocks contacts from backing out under vibration. If a contact isn’t fully seated, the wedge won’t install — preventing assembly errors.

6. Selection and Assembly Checklist

Confirm the housing family, cavity count, contact size, wire insulation diameter, sealing plugs, wedge lock, and crimp tooling before ordering. Current ratings are system values and must be derated for wire size, ambient temperature, cavity loading, and duty cycle. After crimping, perform a pull test and verify that every contact is fully seated before installing the wedge lock.
