Autoclaving is the harshest: 134°C steam under pressure for 20 minutes, repeated 1000+ times over device life. Standard PA66 and PBT fail — LCP or PEEK required.

5. Design-Control Checklist
Document whether the connector is patient-accessible, the applied-part classification, required creepage/clearance, touch-proofing, keyed or color-coded misconnection controls, cleaning and sterilization cycles, fluid compatibility, expected mating cycles, strain relief, cable flex life, and supplier traceability. Validate the finished cable assembly and device—not only the connector component—under the applicable regulatory and risk-management process.
